The work “On the Demonomania of Sorcerers” is usually set aside from other works of Jean Bodin, speaking of its author, a man of brilliant mind and one of the most outstanding thinkers of his time, only as a victim of popular superstitions. But a deeper analysis of this work in the context of the era when it was created allows us to look at Boden’s intellectual heritage differently. Instead of a person entangled in paradoxes, he appears as a consistent thinker of his time, who created an original and unique picture of the world. Carefully and consistently, according to the ideas of the Renaissance and the logic of humanism, Bodin connects, thanks to his knowledge of jurisprudence, politics, physics and theology, the spiritual with the material, the sacred with the everyday, the mystical with the rational and the divine with the diabolical.
