The March issue of IL opens with the novel by the Chilean writer Hernán Rivera Letelier (1950) “Fata Morgana of Love with Orchestra.” The plot is reminiscent of a ballad or an urban romance: a heartbreaking love story of the first urban beauty for a trumpet player. Everything ends, as expected, badly. The time of action is the 20-30s of the last century, the place is Pampa Union, a lush town surrounded by saltpeter mines. Translation from Spanish and notes by Daria Sinitsina.
