Michal Witkowski (b. 1975) is a Polish prose writer, literary critic, graduate student at the University of Wroclaw. The characters in Lubiev are mostly marginalized gays, representatives of those circles where sexual otherness is intertwined with vulgar vice, and even crime, love with violence, the joy of sex with the hopelessness of everyday life. Their stories form a kind of gay Decameron, showing the cream of the social bottom at a turning point in the life of society.
