To date, Richard Woodman has written about two dozen works, including fourteen volumes in the series about Nathaniel Drinkwater and a book about the Trinity House naval service, “Guardians of the Sea.” He also wrote “The History of a Ship,” various studies about the Second World War, the Arctic and Maltese convoys, as well as a fascinating history of frigate warfare during the French Revolution, “Warriors of the Sea.” Woodman became addicted to sailing from childhood. He gained experience sailing a square-rigged vessel on the Royalist and the Endeavor Replica (a restored Victorian pleasure yacht). He has a five-ton gaff cutter, the Andromeda, in which he sails mainly along the coast of England and in the southern waters of the North Sea. He is engaged as an adviser to the National Naval Museum and the Parisian studio Adventure Films. "An Eye of the Fleet" - The first book in the series about Nathaniel Drinkwater. The book takes place in the early 1780s. Young midshipman Drinkwater begins service on one of the frigates of the Royal Navy. He will face both battles with the Americans and the French during the War of Independence, and the struggle for self-assertion in the ship's crew.
