Mikhail Karpov comes to the USA at the invitation of his American publisher. Overseas life shimmers before the hero with all possible colors, but does not make much of an impression... After all, he is a patriot, and his stay abroad is justified solely by great goals. Trouble crept up out of nowhere. Those anonymous letters that he wrote to the supreme government nevertheless led to the author, and returning to his native Soviet Union is now complicated, because it is not clear who he is - a crazy contractor who is trying to sow doubts in the highest echelons of power, or a mysterious seer who knows what awaits the country in the foreseeable future. Now only one thing is clear: in the eyes of the rulers of the world, Karpov is an agent of influence.
