The textbook sets out in a concise and accessible form the fundamentals of the formal kinetics of simple and complex homogeneous reactions and theories of the elementary act. Considerable attention is paid to the modern interpretation of the kinetics and mechanisms of reactions in liquid media, as well as catalytic and heterogeneous (including topochemical) reactions.

A distinctive feature of the manual is that it is designed for use in a multi-level teaching system, in connection with which the presentation of the material gradually changes from elementary to that accepted in monographic literature. The final chapters examine the application of the kinetic method in coordination chemistry using the example of metalloporphyrin reactions and give an overview of the current state of the theory of nonequilibrium kinetics using the example of plasma-chemical reactions.

The textbook uses material from modern journal and monographic literature, including the results of our own developments of the authors. The basis of the book is a general course in physical chemistry and special courses given by the authors to students, undergraduates and graduate students of the Higher Chemical College of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Ivanovo Branch at the Institute of Solution Chemistry named after. G.A. Krestov Russian Academy of Sciences and Ivanovo State University of Chemical Technology.
