The Fiery Cross" is a book by poet and prose writer Nikolai Denisov, winner of the All-Russian Literary Prize named after D.N. Mamin-Sibiryak, contains documentary and artistic narratives about Russian emigrants of the “first wave”, about former boy cadets, whose fathers - soldiers of the White Army - left Crimea in the fall of 1920 with the troops of General P.N. Wrangel to Turkey, Serbia, and other countries of the “Russian scattering.” The author talks about personal meetings with Russian foreigners in Russia, Venezuela, and other countries of South America, about the details of their destinies against the backdrop of the events of the era, depicts their life, characters, one of the main features of which are love for their native Fatherland.

The famous Russian poet Ivan Vasilyevich Lystsov intended to publish this article-essay “Keep Russia in You” in the Tyumen Literary newspaper, which I have been publishing and editing for many years. At one time, for some reason, the publication did not work out. And then I found this article in my papers...Ivan Lystsov began his working and creative life in the Tyumen region. And in the last years before his tragic death (murder by “unknown persons”), during the most criminal period of “Yeltsin’s perestroika,” we corresponded closely and met several times in a friendly manner in Tyumen and Moscow. As the editor of TL, I published the poems he sent me and his incisive journalism. For example, we published a long essay by I. Lystsov, “The Murder of Yesenin,” which was then published as a separate book. For some reason, our last parting in Moscow, near the Yugo metro station, was sad, permeated with some kind of “mystical” premonitions. -Western" - January 13, one thousand nine hundred and ninety-four... In April of that year, Lystsov passed away. Preparing for publication the real book “Fiery Cross” - about my past meetings, about the friendship that continues today with foreign Russian compatriots, cadets, emigrants “first wave”, with one of whom the poet Ivan Lystsov met, I decided to put a fragment of this “cadet” material by Lystsov as a preface to the book, both in memory of the talented poet, and because the material contains interesting information about Russian history, which directly relates to my book “The Fiery Cross.”
