Adhemar of Shabansky is one of the most famous historiographers of the 11th century. Several of his works of different genres have survived to this day, among which the central place is occupied by the Chronicle, a key source on the history of France in the 11th century. On its pages, a picture clearly emerges of the birth of a new world - seigneurial civil strife and growing monasteries, which will soon become the basis for the powerful socio-economic rise of Western Europe. In addition to the historical narrative itself, the Chronicle is interesting because, by reading it, we can “penetrate” the scriptorium where this work was created: we see the range of sources that the historian had at his disposal, we can analyze the methods of work and outline the range of issues that most interested a medieval monk. "Chronicon" by Adhémar of Chabannes is published in its entirety for the first time in Russian. The translation is provided with comments and an introductory article. The book will be of interest to specialists and all lovers of the history of the Middle Ages. CONTENTS: “CHRONICAL” OF ADEMAR SHABANNSKY.
