On the approaches to the capital of the Reich, the German military-political leadership again tried to stop the advance of the Red Army towards Berlin in order to delay the course of hostilities and try to persuade our allies in the Anti-Hitler coalition to a separate peace. The Germans introduced into battle several armored and artillery formations that were new in their structure and organization, and subsequently tried to use unfinished experimental samples of their armored “miracle weapons” in the battle. It was also during this period that, in the Arnswald area, German tank divisions carried out the last counter-offensive against the flank of Soviet troops, which were inexorably approaching Berlin. But all the enemy’s efforts were in vain: the capital of the Reich fell, Germany capitulated, and the “weapons of retaliation” are in the military museums of the countries that defeated fascism.
