Natalia Novokhatskaya Offers a series of detailed descriptions, first of Soviet (a little), then of further Russian life over the past 20-odd years, with a noticeable bias towards the crime-adventure side. The main character, who is also the main narrator, is a self-taught detective, a certain Katya Malysheva. The series is intended for a more or less enlightened audience with a healthy psyche and contains almost no descriptions of bloody murders or other sharp deviations from a healthy lifestyle. The reader is assumed to have a sense of humor, at least to a small extent, allowing for the possibility of laughing at oneself. Even when you're sad.
