Being a woman in the Middle Ages meant getting married at 12–18 years old and giving birth to a dozen children, of which only two or three would survive. Conceive, give birth, swaddle, wash, cook, conceive again, give birth again, swaddle again... And so until about 40 years old. Richer women could delegate some of the tasks to maids, and leave only pregnancy, childbirth and embroidery for themselves. Then they could count - on rare social holidays - on a tournament and a couple of flattering songs from a visiting poet. Ultimately, a woman's world was limited to a few rooms, a kitchen, a market, a church and a well. However, there was something bright in this life. There were troubadour songs, poems dedicated to beautiful ladies, beautiful dresses and incredible love stories. This book tells about all aspects of the life of a woman in the Middle Ages.
