Venetian Alberto Toso's book Fairies is a guide to the Venice of myths and secrets. It is made up of seven routes through all six historical sister districts of Venice, with street names and detailed maps attached. However, the “core” on which the walks are strung is not the history of architectural monuments and painting styles, as in ordinary guidebooks, but urban legends. But since almost all of these legends involve historical characters, and ghosts appear in historical places, the author, always appropriately, also provides “ordinary” educational information: he talks about the history of Venice and describes its most famous architectural monuments. Alberto Toso Fei (b. 1966) comes from a family of hereditary glassblowers, and before the publication of this book was known as a specialist and enthusiast in the history of Murano glass. This is his first book that went beyond his direct specialty, and many others followed.
