The author of the novel “Bariloche” is already known to readers of the magazine - in December 2015, in the anniversary issue, we published fragments of “Barbarisms” by Andres Neuman, a Spanish-Argentine writer, poet, journalist, passionate about creating unique “dictionaries” - deeply personal, daring, denying conventional wisdom. So is the novel Bariloche, which follows the credo from Neumann's dictionary: Beauty in a story must be justified, but the justification itself must be beautiful. Adjectives should be thrown into a story like seeds into the ground. The story of emptiness and loneliness in a big city, a poetic story about an aging man, the main event of whose life remained his first love in the town of his youth. Translation from Spanish by Olga Kulagina.
