The monograph is devoted to the little-studied topic of the organization and activities of regional security agencies. The author examines the issues of red and white terror, shows the transition from spontaneous partisan reprisals against supporters of Kolchak’s government to the “orderly” extermination of political opponents of the Bolsheviks by the authorities of the authorized representative of the Cheka in Siberia. The construction of a multi-level security machine on the territory of a huge region, intelligence and operational work, psychology, life and morals of provincial security officers are analyzed in detail.
