Plutarch is an ancient Greek moralist writer, historian and public figure. He was very popular and occupied a leading place in the circle of friends and students who formed a small academy, which existed for about a hundred years after his death. Plutarch gained worldwide fame thanks to his Comparative Lives - biographies of outstanding historical figures of Greece and Rome from mythical times to almost his own time. And his philosophical works and works on various branches of science are united under the general heading of “morality”. This edition presents Plutarch's Table Talks, where nine books contain his relaxed discussions on a wide variety of subjects: the digestibility of food, the number of muses, types of dances, etc., all of which are intertwined with abundant and successful quotations from poets and prose writers. The publication is supplemented by some works from the “Moralia” corpus, adjacent to the themes and ideas of “Table Talks,” as well as expanded scientific apparatus. CONTENTS: TABLE TALKS. Per. Y.M.
