The book by the outstanding American writer includes the story “The Old Man and the Sea” (1952), for which Hemingway was awarded the Nobel Prize, and the novel “Islands in the Ocean,” which reached the reader after the author’s death. Simple truths are the basis of both works: a person must work and fulfill his duty, must fight against evil, even if evil is stronger. “Man can be destroyed, but he cannot be defeated” - this is the leitmotif of the entire book, the events in which develop against the backdrop of an amazing the beauty of nature of the southern seas and islands.
