The New Thebaid Brotherhood on Holy Mount Athos publishes manuscripts of Hieromonk Simon the Bloodless (monk Simeon of Athos) entitled “Birds of Heaven or the Journeys of the Soul in the Embrace of God,” which are diary entries from past years. The first part of the book tells about the amazing life story of the author himself, about the difficult paths of the search for God in various periods of the life of our country and about the development in monastic life under the guidance of the outstanding elder and confessor Archimandrite Kirill (Pavlov). This narrative serves as the spiritual core of the difficult process of soul transformation - the beginning of a prayer life and the acquisition of grace. The second part of the book really shows the formation of the soul in Orthodoxy and the acquisition of unceasing prayer, and also, with sincere trust in the reader, it tells about the meeting with the new grace-filled life in Christ, with its difficulties, mistakes, failures and gains. The manuscripts reveal to us in all possible completeness the intimate communication with the elder and with great warmth show us his wise and holy appearance. In addition, together with the author, we meet with other spiritual fathers and ascetics, whose advice and support helped him in difficult moments of his difficult life.
