The book includes two stories by the French writer Daniel Pennac (b. 1944), well known to Russian readers for his novels about the professional “scapegoat” Benjamin Malossen.
“Christians and Moors” is a simplified version of “Little prose merchant", the best novel about the "professional scapegoat" Benjamin Malossen. The stories from the famous Malossen series are built in the style of a comic book for adults: they always contain crime, bold sex scenes, life-threatening injuries and miraculous healings. At the end of each book, the Malossen family is replenished with a new baby. Now Pennac decided to expand this line into the depths of the novel, and not outside it, and not to compose the story of the birth of a new child, but to retrospectively tell about the mystery of the conception of the Baby, who has long been familiar to us, Benjamin’s younger brother.
