Sophie Winters managed to get acquainted with death. Twice.

The first meeting took place at fourteen - then she almost died in a car accident, from which she was left with scars, as well as a long-term addiction to oxycodone.

The second at seventeen - but that was no longer an accident. Sophie and her best friend Mina encountered a masked man in the forest. Sophie survived, but Mina was not so lucky. The police recognized Mina's murder as a consequence of a drug deal gone wrong and placed indirect blame on Sophie. But no one will believe the truth: Sophie has been clean for several months, and it was Mina who led them into the forest that night, talking about some mysterious meeting.

Sophie returns home after forced rehabilitation and ends up in a harsh reality. Mina's brother refuses to talk to her, her parents are afraid of a relapse, old friends have turned into enemies, and she must learn to live without her soulmate. But it’s much worse because no one wants to face the truth. So Sophie will have to find the killer herself. Every step she takes reveals new details: about herself, about Mina, about the secret they shared.
