“The Massacre of the Innocents” is a novel about the fate of Russian cadets who suffered the trials of the revolution and the Civil War. Participating in military disasters, being subjected to repression and persecution, winning moral battles, the heroes of the book, together with the country, go through a difficult tragic path and, on the steep turns of history, gain true freedom. The moral choice that the heroes of the novel must make is very consonant with the quests of Dostoevsky's heroes. This book has everything: a family secret, an unusual and tragic love, a treasure hunt, amazing adventures and mystical secrets, it has its villains and its righteous. But at the same time, the novel is serious and relevant, because it tells about the historical background of Russian modernity, correlating the past and the present. The novel “Massacre of the Innocents” by the extremely talented and original writer and filmmaker Vladimir Lidsky was deservedly awarded the US Free Shooter: Silver Bullet award in 2014.
