On the one hand, this is a book about the fate of German colonists who lived in the small village of Dzhiginka in the south of Russia, written by a native of this village, Russian German Alfred Koch, and journalist Olga Lapina. It is about how the first German colonies arose in Russia under Peter I and Catherine II, how they integrated into Russian culture without losing their originality. About how these people fell between Stalin's hammer and Hitler's anvil. About their perseverance, patience, endless hard work, about cultural and religious traditions. On the other hand, this is a book about self-organization. About how people can be humane and fair to each other without any states or leaders. That if people are not disturbed, but given the opportunity to live the life that they themselves consider correct, then they will overcome any obstacles and achieve any goals. That all politics, ideology and all the endless projects for world happiness are nothing, and all our leaders (past, present and future) are nothing more than parasites sitting on people’s necks.
