“One day people will learn to live on Titan, Saturn’s largest moon,” begins the book Beyond Earth, written by planetary scientist Amanda Hendricks and science journalist Charles Wohlforth. Not on Mars, as was believed for many years, but on Titan, with its dense atmosphere, mild climate and inexhaustible reserves of fuel and water, it is possible to create an autonomous colony. Arguing their point of view, the scientist and journalist show not only the inevitability and tempting prospects of the exploration of the planets and satellites of the solar system, but also the pain points of state and commercial space exploration, political, bureaucratic and scientific problems that prevent the conquest of other worlds. And yet this is a real prospect, and not a fantastic scenario, the authors are convinced and infect the reader with their faith.
