End of the 20th century, North Korea. Pyongyang University students Suja and Chin are in love with each other and dream only of a happy future together. However, the totalitarian regime reigning in the country deals a crushing blow to their plans. Accused of stealing several kilograms of corn flour, authorities sentence Chin to public flogging and life imprisonment. And he just wanted to save his relatives living in a poor province from starvation. Not intending to accept his bitter fate, the guy makes a daring escape, crosses the border and hides in neighboring China. Having learned about this, Sudzha abandons her studies and her wealthy parents and sets off in search of her lover. What lies ahead for both is pain, fear, despair and... hope for a meeting. But will they be able to reunite or will they face eternal separation?

Автор майстерно передає атмосферу страху, безвиході та боротьби, з якою стикаються герої, намагаючись знайти один одного в умовах жорстокого режиму. Кожна сторінка просякнута відчуттям тривоги, але водночас і надії, що робить цю книгу неймовірно захоплюючою. Я не могла відірватися від читання, адже доля героїв тримала в напрузі до самого кінця. Рекомендую цю книгу всім, хто цінує глибокі емоційні історії, що змушують замислитися про цінність свободи та кохання!
