Boris Ryzhy (1974–2001) was born a poet. During his short poetic life, more than 1000 poems were published. The collection “In Distant and Sad Quarters” presents poems from 1992–2001. Reading them, you understand why the work of Boris Ryzhy is assessed so polarly, calling him a poet of the turn of the era, a singer of the “dashing 90s” and even “the last Soviet poet.” Meanwhile, he is a Poet beyond frames and time, “for everyone and always.” The decade that passed after his death brought him fame and recognition unprecedented in our non-poetic times. The lines of his poems have been circulated as quotes and aphorisms on blogs and LiveJournals, dozens of his poems have been set to music, films are being made about him, the cult play “Redhead” is being staged at the P. Fomenko Workshop theater. The proposed collection, which also includes the prose work “The Rotterdam Diary” , addressed to lovers and connoisseurs of modern poetry. The author’s punctuation and spelling are preserved in the poems.
