One of the forerunners of the “post-industrial society” is Alvin Toffler, who predicted many features of modern society back in the early 80s. last century, in his classic work, he breaks down the history of mankind into “technological waves” (compare with the classics of political economy!). One technological wave replaces another, and after a change in technology comes a change in social formations. According to Toffler, there is not much difference between socialism in the USSR and imperialism of the mid-20th century in the USA - in both places it is easy to detect the features of the industrial era: centralized strict management and control and suppression of social initiative. Each technological wave has its own key product, and the power of countries and public associations depends on the possession and control of it. In ancient society and the Middle Ages, such a product was land, in the industrial era - commodity markets and raw materials. In a post-industrial society, in the phase of the Third technological wave, information becomes the key product. Toffler analyzes trends and makes excellent forecasts, some of which become reality before our eyes. All aspects of society are being transformed: social relationships, government, politics, the media market, even family and education. A civilization of the future is emerging, which will be different in all respects, but its seeds can be seen today...
