Michael Scott Rohan (1951) was educated at Edinburgh Academy and Oxford. He is a specialist in anthropology, paleontology and classical and folk music. By the late 1980s, with a series of books including his acclaimed Winter of the World trilogy, Rohan was recognized as one of the great modern masters of fantasy. Chasing the Sunrise, the first in a series of novels about the adventures and transformation of Stephen Fisher, is set in takes place in modern England and the mysterious Hispaniola - the homeland of the bloody voodoo cult of Don Pedro. This is an example of “smart” fantasy, where the author’s solid intellectual and moral baggage is by no means a burden, but comes in handy for the main character in his travels through time and space.
