The author, who died untimely this year, is a legendary personality of the Moscow underground of the last thirty years. In the hippie system he was known as the Guru. What remains from him is the novel “Rock and Roll” and the story “Attractions,” published at one time in the almanac “Solid Sign,” and a corpus of poems, the best of which are collected in this collection. The bewitching “as if simplicity”, fear of pathos, absolute absence of inhibitions are combined in these poems with genuine poetic culture, which distinguishes Slavorosov from many other genetically subcultural authors.2005
