Cycle V.F. Odoevsky (1803–1869) “Motley Tales” is reproduced from the first edition, published in St. Petersburg in 1833, since they were not subsequently republished as a complete cycle during the writer’s lifetime. “Additions” publish Odoevsky’s printed and handwritten works, thematically and artistically related to “Motley Tales,” as well as lifetime reviews of the collection and reviews of it from the memoirs and letters of contemporaries. The comments describe the fate of a copy of “Motley Tales,” recently discovered in British Library (England), with pencil notes and corrections by the author
