“Theophan's Continuator”, one of the most important monuments of Byzantine historiography, is a joint work of several anonymous authors from the entourage of Constantine Porphyrogenitus, who took a direct part in this work. The narrative begins with those events that conclude the historical work of Theophan the Confessor - hence the traditional name of the published works that cover events from 813 to 961. The narrative centers on the biographies of Byzantine emperors. Against the backdrop of their reign, vivid and ambiguous portraits of the crown bearers are given, as well as characteristics of their morals and way of life. Household details allow us to see a picture of the Byzantine court in the 10th century. CONTENTS: Introduction (5). Book I. Leo V (7). Book II. Michael II (22).Book III. Theophilus (40).Book IV.
