The main character of the novel, Nanidat Maniakh, is a virtuoso of the silk trade, a brilliant young man from the best family of Samarkand, who several years ago refused to take up arms and engage in the “family business” - espionage. The war with the conquerors of his native country is over for him forever. But assassins make an attempt on the life of a peaceful silk merchant, and, to his own amazement, he turns into a super spy and general of the victorious army and becomes the favorite of a new dynasty of caliphs who dream of building a new and beautiful city. Which will be called Baghdad. Until the last pages, the fate of its main character - a mysterious woman with golden hair - remains a mystery... The heroes of the novel are masterfully inscribed in the turbulent history of wars, conspiracies and battles of the 8th century, when the main world civilizations were formed.
