American economist, professor of economics at the University of Missouri in Kansas City, fellow at the Levy Economic Institute at Bard College, former Wall Street analyst, renowned political consultant and journalist Michael Huckleberry Hudson is one of the few American economists who did not want to fit into the modern liberal mainstream. He is recognized as one of twelve economists who successfully predicted the 2008 mortgage crisis. Hudson devoted his scientific career to the study of loans: both internal (loans, mortgages, interest-bearing securities) and external. For almost half a century, he has consistently defended the idea that such loans always hinder the development of the borrowing country, and loans and exponentially growing debts that outstrip the profit from the “real economy” are disastrous for the borrowing state. Although the author talks about Western countries in his works, their content directly applies to Russia. Figuratively speaking, if the American economy, according to Michael Hudson, is one meter from the abyss, then the liberal economy of Russia is five. Hudson's numerous books have been published many times in the USA and translated into foreign languages, but not one of them has been translated into Russian or published in Russia to date.
