Count Stagart, who was once an officer of a brilliant German regiment, thanks to a mysterious, unsolved crime, lost his bride and devoted his entire life to your life fighting criminals. He abandoned his position in society and became one of the greatest detectives in Europe. His amazing successes spread word about him on the other side of the ocean. The famous journalist Max Ladenburg met Count Stagart in Africa. A simple acquaintance turned into a close friendship and Max Ladenburg, who became Stagart’s faithful companion, described the extraordinary adventures of Count Stagart in a number of stories.

The stories included in the book are published according to editions of the J. Haupt publishing house (1908) in accordance with modern standards of spelling and punctuation and correction of the most obvious typos. The book also restored a number of missing words and corrected some overly outdated phrases; Some proper names are given in modern transcription. The afterword by A. Sherman is taken from the book by M. Ladenburg “The Adventures of Fritz Stagart, the famous German detective” (series “New Sherlockiana”, issue XV).
