“Deeply believing in the restoration of the former glory of the Russian army and its traditions, I am writing my memoirs in the hope that they may be useful to those who have the opportunity to capture the former glory of the Caucasian regiments on the pages of history. In memory of the past, for the edification of the future, the name of the 155th Cuban Infantry Regiment should take its rightful place in the chronicles of the Caucasian Army. In the interests of absolute accuracy, I consider it my duty to emphasize that in my memoirs I will only touch on those events in which I myself took part as an ordinary officer,” with these words the captain of the 155th Cuban Infantry Regiment V.L. begins his memoirs. Levitsky. His memoirs are not a tactical history of one of the regiments on the battlefields of the First World War, it is a living story in which the main attention is paid to details, the trifles of an officer’s life, and combat sketches.
