The book is a series of essays about the khans and rulers of the Golden Horde. Each essay is dedicated to an individual monarch or ruler, his origins, rise to power, history of reign and the circumstances of his death. Fourteen biographical essays chronologically cover almost the entire history of this state (mid-XIII - early XVI centuries), including all the most important events associated with its emergence, heyday, decline and collapse. Considerable attention is also paid to the foreign policy of the Horde rulers, their relations with Russia, the countries of Europe and the Muslim East.
