The multi-day battles near Prokhorovka in the public consciousness are still associated mainly only with the tank battle of July 12, 1943, which over the past decades has acquired myths and legends, largely born of Soviet agitprop. The main thing was to show the infallibility of the political and military leadership of the country and the Armed Forces, the superiority of Soviet military art and technology over the military art and technology of the Nazi army. By comparing documents from Soviet and German military archives, the book shows the actual course of hostilities by day of the defensive operation. The above facts indicate that the counterattack on July 12 near Prokhorovka, contrary to widespread belief, ended in a major failure, which complicated further actions of the troops of the Voronezh Front. The reasons for the failure and large losses of our troops, which significantly exceed official data, are revealed. Nevertheless, the front troops, having successfully completed the defensive operation, created the conditions for our troops to launch a decisive counteroffensive and defeat the Belgorod-Kharkov enemy group. The book will undoubtedly arouse interest among everyone interested in the military history of the Fatherland.
