The book of a friend and long-term “chronicler” of the life of Coco Chanel, writer Marcel Edrich, captures the living image of the Great Mademoiselle. The author did not set himself the task of writing a detailed biography. It was important for him to convey to the reader her character, voice, intonation, and manner of speaking. Before us are actually monologues of Coco Chanel, in which she talks about what she herself would like to read in a book about herself, while hushing up some “inconvenient” facts of her life or replacing them to create a complete image-legend, leaving the reader to decide for himself decide what is true and what is fiction in her words.
