Andrei Nikitovich Novikov (1888–1941) is an important and interesting figure in Russian literature of the 20th century, a talented satirist, one of the few friends of A. Platonov. His works, written entertainingly, with a large dose of the author's irony, touched on pressing issues of his time. And in this he was close to his great countryman A. Platonov, the best writers of the 1920s, who opposed officialdom and developed the best traditions of literature of the 19th century. He belonged to those artists in whose work the era determined not only the style and characters, but also shaped their worldview. Arrested in 1940 for anti-Soviet statements, executed in 1941, at the beginning of the war. This volume of selected stories and novels, the first publication after 80 years of oblivion, seeks not only to fill in the missing pages of Russian literature of our recent past, but also to introduce into literary circulation the original prose of A. Novikov

Відкриття забутого генія російської літератури
Книга "Ратні подвиги простаків" стала для мене справжнім відкриттям. Андрій Микитович Новіков, якого я раніше не знав, виявився талановитим сатириком, чия проза пронизана іронією та глибокими роздумами про актуальні проблеми його часу. Читання його творів стало для мене не лише задоволенням, але й можливістю зануритися в епоху, яка формувала його світогляд. Яскраві персонажі, дотепні діалоги та глибокий соціальний підтекст роблять цю книгу надзвичайно цікавою. Важливо, що це перше видання після 80-річного забуття, і я вважаю, що кожен, хто цікавиться російською літературою, повинен ознайомитися з цими творами. Новіков, безумовно, заслуговує на місце серед великих письменників XX століття, і його творчість варта того, щоб бути прочитаною та обговореною. Рекомендую всім, хто цінує глибокі, але водночас і дотепні літературні твори!
