In Jewish eschatology, Behemoth and Leviathan are the names of two monsters. Behemoth rules the earth, Leviathan rules the sea, the first is masculine, the second monster is feminine. Land animals worship Behemoth, sea animals worship Leviathan as their lords. Both monsters are from Chaos. According to predictions, Behemoth and Leviathan will reappear shortly before the end of the world. They will establish a reign of terror, but will be killed by God. Then the day of piety and justice will come. People will eat the meat of monsters at a feast that will herald the coming of the Kingdom of God. Jewish eschatology, the Book of Job, the prophets, and apocalyptic writings are full of references to this myth, which is often interpreted differently and often adapted to political circumstances. St. Augustine saw Satan in Hippopotamus. In the book by F. L. Neumann, National Socialism personifies anarchy, chaos, the rule of arbitrariness and anarchy, which “swallowed up” human rights and his dignity. It is this system that is destined to turn the whole world into chaos, giving power to gigantic earthly masses. That is why National Socialism was given the name Behemoth.
