In 1957, the novel “Doctor Zhivago” was published abroad, which its author considered the pinnacle of his prose creativity. In 1958, the Swedish Academy awarded B. L. Pasternak the Nobel Prize in Literature. A scandal broke out in the USSR, followed by persecution of the writer.
