The reader, perhaps already familiar with the characters and events of the novel “The Mohicans of Paris,” is invited to a continuation - the novel “Salvator.” In this book, Dumas vividly and masterfully, in the genre of a “physiological essay,” paints a portrait of the political life of France in 1827. The king is powerless and indifferent. Ministers cling to power. The police send their provocateurs everywhere and initiate criminal trials against political opponents of the regime. All these events took place before Dumas' eyes in 1827-1830. Subsequently, in his “Memoirs” he wrote: “I saw those who carried out the revolution of 1830, and they saw me in their ranks... The people who made the revolution of 1830 personified the ardent youth of the heroic proletariat; they not only started the fire, but also extinguished the flames with their blood.”
