When Anna's husband was offered a job on the other side of England, she happily accepted the move. Anna hopes that inspiration will return to her in the idyllic countryside and her second novel will get off the ground. But everything turns out to be completely different from what she imagined. The rural outback turned out to be not an idyll at all, but a place full of dark secrets, and the cozy house in which they settled was marked with an ominous stamp. Previously, several decades ago, it belonged to a notorious child killer, and the memory of that long-standing terrible crime is still alive in these parts. Curiosity and the itch to write push Anna to find out more about what happened in her house, and soon she becomes entangled in a web of truth and lies, which is tied up in the events of thirty years ago. And the more Anna learns about the past, the more she wants to restore justice, but someone does not want this at all. An invisible enemy invades Anna's life, threatens her marriage, her safety and, ultimately, her life, but Anna has no way back. Only by understanding the past will she be able to save the present. A brilliant psychological detective story, reminiscent of such novels as “My Alien Daughter” and “In the Shards of the Fog.”
