"Empty Head" is a cult novel by Ivan Nechui-Levytskyi, which was published in 1871. In this book, the author, with the help of a deep psychological analysis, reveals the problem of general mockery of a hardworking and unreasonable man. The main character, the peasant Martyn, reflects the typical phenomenon of ignorance and stupidity, which were widespread in Ukrainian society at that time.
The events unfold around Martin and his efforts to get an education and prove his worth in communication with the townspeople. Through a series of comic situations and misunderstandings, the reader understands the absurdity and tragedy of the main character's empty head.
"Empty Head" is not only a satirical story about an unintelligent peasant, but also a deep philosophical treatise, which leaves behind many raised questions about the essence of human intelligence, morality and social responsibility.
