The year 1888 became the seventh year of the “Twenty Year Program”. They passed sea trials and were preparing to enter service in the Baltic Sea, “Emperor Alexander II”, “Ekaterina II”, “Chesma” and “Sinop” in the Black Sea. In St. Petersburg, at the Galerny Island shipyard, the Franco-Russian plant prepared the hull of the battleship “Emperor Nicholas I” for launching. In the New Admiralty, the small displacement ship “Gangut” was built with “state funds”. Construction of the fourth Black Sea battleship began in Nikolaev.
