In 2007, a significant event took place in the history of Russia - the unification of the Russian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate and the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad. The former church schism stemmed from the tragic events of the early twentieth century - the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917, the Civil War and the subsequent emigration of many Orthodox bishops, priests, monks and laity. The book presented to the reader is dedicated to the history of Russian Orthodoxy abroad. It tells about the founders and ministers of the Russian Orthodox Church, who not only contributed to the unity of the emigration, but also tried to alleviate the lot of the persecuted Church in the Fatherland. Sometimes they succeeded, sometimes their cries to the world community turned into intensifying persecution of believers in the USSR. This is not surprising, since the backbone of the ROCOR initially consisted of prominent figures of the White movement. Therefore, any contacts with representatives of the “White” Church were perceived in the USSR as a sign of political unreliability - right up to the beginning of perestroika. This was the cause of many tragedies among believers. Many confessors of the 20th century received camp sentences for corresponding with Russian priests from abroad, from where they received religious literature and spiritual guidance. It is no coincidence that in the post-war period the Russian Orthodox Church became the object of close attention from the KGB. Of particular interest to the reader will be a discussion of questions about how Patriarch Tikhon reacted to the formation of the Russian Orthodox Church, how the Russian Orthodox Church MP reacted to the call of the Church Abroad for the return of the Romanovs to the Russian throne, the cooperation of a number of representatives of the Church Abroad with Nazi Germany and a number of leaders of the Russian Orthodox Church MP with the KGB. Author books - priest of the Russian Orthodox Church since 1993. The book uses rare documents from archives, as well as unpublished articles by Bishop Gregory (Grabbe) and Archbishop John (Maksimovich).
