In the story of the bygone years “Chauffeur Tonya and Mikhsergeich of the Soviet Union,” the author, in an ironic, grotesque manner, consciously reducing the images, talks about the tragic pages in the history of the country during the period of its collapse and change of political formations. The narrative is constructed through the perception of reality of a simple and naive girl, Tony, who constantly talks with the head of state, Mikhail Sergeevich. The world is shown through her eyes and comprehended by her mind, which allows the author to use a wide palette of stylistic devices. Life of that time can be simplified to the point of clear understanding by a trolleybus driver, or it can easily turn into tragifarce and phantasmagoria.
