The bloody trail of pirate crimes stretches through the centuries; history has preserved the names of many sea robbers. Their life, full of dangers and adventures, is surrounded by an aura of pirate romance. Hence the title of the book, taken by the author from the “old pirate song” with the mysterious words: “Fifteen men on a dead man’s chest...” The reader will meet the famous Drake, Morgan, Dampier, Blackbeard and other gentlemen of fortune, as the pirates called themselves. They not only bravely went on board, but sometimes became discoverers of the islands where they hid their golden treasures and where the “Jolly Roger”, the black flag of the pirate freemen, dominated.
