Michael Dummett (27 June 1925, London - 27 December 2011) - British philosopher, a prominent representative of the analytical school; He is also a developer of the theory of the electoral voting system and a specialist in the history of card games. He joined the Roman Catholic Church in 1944 and has remained a practicing Catholic ever since. From 1979 to 1992 - Professor of Logic at Oxford. Dummett also taught at the University of California at Berkeley, Birmingham, Princeton and Harvard universities. Working in logic and the philosophy of language, Dummett became the author of a work that is now recognized as a classic in the relevant environment - Frege: Philosophy of Language (English: Frege: Philosophy of Language, 1973). His contribution to the fields of philosophy of mathematics and metaphysics is also significant. In 1995 he received the Rolf Schock Prize for his participation in a discussion on Frege's philosophy and for his contributions to the development of the theory of meaning.
