The international nature of education and the development of academic mobility in the modern world have made the problem of teaching foreign students especially urgent, that is, the problem of teaching in a language that is not the students’ native language in a non-native sociocultural environment. Russian higher education has unique experience in this area, accumulated in the most concentrated form in preparatory faculties for foreign students. The monograph is an attempt to generalize this experience from the point of view of general patterns and the resulting requirements for the effectiveness of teaching foreign students. The purpose of the work is to provide a systematic presentation of the foundations of the theory of teaching in a non-native language using the example of a pedagogical system for pre-university training of foreign students. It is also hoped that the monograph will serve as a catalyst for a fruitful discussion and for further research. The work is addressed to teachers whose professional activities are related to teaching foreign students, anyone interested in the theoretical and practical foundations of teaching in a non-native language in a non-native sociocultural environment, as well as those who are undergoing advanced training course on teaching methods for foreign students. The book will be useful for teachers starting to work in foreign-language classrooms.
