In 1932, the future English writer Pamela Travers, author of the famous “Mary Poppins,” visited Soviet Russia. Unlike the pillars of Western literature, honored guests of the USSR, such as Bernard Shaw, Romain Rolland, Henri Barbusse, the young journalist Travers saw here not a ceremonial facade, but a real picture - complex and contradictory. She is not ready to praise the new revolutionary order, but she honestly and to the best of her ability tries to comprehend what she sees. The result of this understanding was this book, published in England in 1934. Published in Russian for the first time.
