Emilio Salgari (1862–1911) was called by his contemporaries “the Italian Jules Verne.” In his youth, while studying at a nautical school, he avidly read the novels of the French luminary of the adventure genre and eventually followed in the footsteps of his idol, writing about two hundred novels and stories. And although the author never left the Adriatic, his romantic and noble pirates crisscrossed all the seas and oceans. Salgari’s famous trilogy “Corsairs of the South Seas” included the novels “Corsairs of Bermuda” (1909), “The March of the Thunderer” (1910) and “The Extraordinary Adventures of a Corsair on Lake Champlain” (1915), never before published in Russia. For the first time in Russian!
